This week’s task was to create a small 3-D printed object that would be of practical use in my life. The main concerns I had was with the limitations of the material. I am concerned over how strong the material is, and the fact that the material would dissolve in water.

Logo for Board Games @ UW.
Although it isn’t an object that I would use in my everyday life, I decided to attempt to make a stamp for the Board Games @ UW Club. We want to mark our club’s games so that we’re able to loan our games out, but also indicate that the games belong to the club. One of the other officers for the board game club hand carved a stamp that’s quite charming. One of the “s”s is backwards and it brings a lot of charm to the. I decided to do a version of the stamp in a more precise medium.

The modeling itself wasn’t too difficult, as I put together a few simple shapes and we already had a vector version of the logo I wanted to use. Something I couldn’t figure out for this project but would like to revisit in the future is creating surfaces of stamp rather than only outlines/ridges which is how the final design turned out. I very nearly forgot to mirror the image of the logo, which would have made for a bad time when it came time to actually stamp objects.
