Video Prototype

This week, the challenge was to create a video that would demonstrate the functionality of a health app. I decided to feature an app I enjoy called Flowy. The purpose of Flowy is to assist in breathing exercises for people experiencing anxiety or panic. The user is meant to breathe at the same pace as a cloud on-screen, three seconds inhaling then three seconds exhaling. While the cloud is exhaling, the user controls a small ship, sailing from side to side to collect small coins. There are three main purposes of this app:

  1. The breathing exercise that has been effective in decreasing anxiety and stress.
  2. The user is distracted from the fact that they are quite anxious by playing a small game.
  3. Users don’t have to worry about people watching them trying to calm down. It just looks like the user is playing a mobile game.

In my video, I wanted to portray a stressful scenario a user would be experiencing, where they finally hit a point where they have a break to calm down. I wanted the stressful section of the video to be a series of short clips, but ended up being a series of quickly flashing images because I could’t find the videos I wanted. I feel like I don’t have the skills or the resources to have built exactly my vision, but it’s alright. I only user Windows Movie Maker because that’s the only thing I’ve ever used to put together videos but maybe sometime I’ll try out the video editor that comes in Adobe Creative Cloud or Apple iMovie.
